Something in the future goes back in time to change the events so that the course of the universe takes a different route forever changing the way things unfold. We've seen variations of this plot carried out anime and mainstream science fiction shows, but it blew my mind when I saw it being seriously discussed.
From Slashdot:
Dennis Overbye from the NY Times is reporting on a "crazy" theory being worked up by a pair of "otherwise distinguished physicists" regarding the Large Hadron Collider's… Continue
So I am going to use this to post random news that I have found that I find interesting. These will be about anything, anime, manga, cultural stuff, etc. etc.
Let the random news bits begin! (obviously the most recent news will always be towards the bottom)
1. YES!!!!!!!!! I just now read that Viz Media Announced at Comic-Con that they now have the license to bring Vampire Knight (Both seasons of the anime) to the US!!! I got so excited when I read that that my scream of "YES!" made my grandma… Continue

OK, I shelled-out $12.50 last night to watch "Eureka Seven - Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers", last night (Sept.24,2009) on the big screen. This was a one-night-only special event and seeing that this was my first time watching an anime in the movie theater, I thought it was worth the investment to investigate.

So I just read a blog post via the anime sub-reddit that pointed out that there's a new warning message/skit showing up at the beginning of episodes for some anime series.
I needed to come up with a replacement for my Figure 17 discs, so I decided to have a discussion with my close buddy froogle.com.
Me: Duuuude, how's it goin?
Froogle: Ya know -- another day.
Me: Yeah, yeah, I hear ya. How's GMail?
Froogle: She had a cold a couple weeks ago, but she's doing good now. I'll tell her you said hi.
Me: Excellent, glad s… Continue
Hidy-ho, Neighborino(s)! Merciless here, sorta.... for the time being. N/E Ways,..... Long time no chat. I've been around; alot of shit going down on my end. But I've been able to keep up w/ my manga reading (at least) and some anime. I've been moving, hospitalized and ill, had car issues, bank issues, more dead pets, and now laid-off. I was given a year's notice at my work to find a new job. So I'm currently employed, but I have 11months left in my position. If I don't die from stress (i.e. lac… Continue
I've stated previously on this site that I prefer my anime dubbed, though I tend to watch both Japanese and English vocal tracks for comparison.
(quick note: rabid sub fans need not bother trying to convince of the superiority of Japanese voice acting over English voice acting, or how listening to the vocals in the original language enhances the experience.)
Bad dubs are just part of the package of being a foreign film fan. I take a Taoist point of view, and just accept that they happen,… Continue
I came across an older discussion on this site about where it was stated that "the vast majority of anime fans want children's programming."
Whether or not that's a valid statement is irrelevant --- it struck a nerve.
See, I'm just as happy to watch anime targeted for under thirteen as I am any other category, and this has always been the case. That's not to say I go to the extremes; I don't watch everything -- I'm selective in what I consider entertaining, I don't bother watching story… Continue
Recently a question was posed to me about purchasing anime and Cardcaptor Sakura. I've discussed this subject quite extensively on NTZ but have never actually recorded all the information and put it in one place, so I decided to blog it baby. When it comes to purchasing Anime. In my experience it is best not to buy Anime right when it comes out, but a couple months after when more sellers get their hands on the titles. This forces competition and the prices usually co… Continue
Just found a link to some cool natural art from rice farming! To think of all the time and planning, and cleverness needed to do something like this......amazing!

So I was hunting around for anime/manga graphics that I could use at home and places like here and came across a good one. The artwork I saw for some of the shows on the website even made me interested in some shows I had never heard about before.
www.dragonrain.com
That is the site. They were some VERY cool graphics for Vampire Knight, Fruits Basket, and even Haibane Renmei! I was very excited, so you should check it out.
If anyone knows of any other good places to go for graphics let me kno… Continue

OK, as a public service, as I come across them, I will try to list the "Anime Interruptus" (the anime's that have ended abruptly for some reason) and in what volume the manga pick's up the story. If any of you want to add to this list, please feel free.

My oldest kidlette and I are very much anime addicts (it could be argued that she is even more so than I). This weekend, between playing fast and loose with explosives and trying to set fire to beef, we chatted quite a bit about anime.
One of the series we chatted about was Haibane Renmei. It's a wonderful show that I cannot say enough good things about. The show is one of those perfect storm conversation bits for people that have been lucky enough to watch the series. Conversations run… Continue
"Past time" might be too innocuous a term. It might be said that my other big addiction is MMO's. I'm a fan of the overused and tired fantasy genre. Like cowbell, I just can't get enough sword-n'-sorcery. I like my MMO's like my Anime -- with engaging original stories, great visuals and audio, and cool characters -- and that's about as much as this post will deal with Anime.
Although I'm not a Square-Enix fan, or even a appr… Continue
I don't know if anyone else has seen this show, but I just caught it for the first time on Friday on G4, and after the first episode, I was officially addicted. They were running a marathon all weekend, and I literally did nothing else. The show is a test of pure physical endurance and strength, pitting contestants against 4 progressively harder physical trials in hopes of being crowned Ninja Warrior. At first I was just fascinated to watch these extraordinary people put themselves through these… Continue
"You've joined a club without knowing. Damn near everyone one else on a motorcycle is your buddy."
That's what my friend Chris said to me when I showed him my first motorcycle (a few *ahem* years back) . I remember that for two distinct reasons. First, that kind of dry humor wasn't his normal schtick so it wasn't so easy to blow off. Second, I found out later I shouldn't have worked so hard blowing him off -- he wasn't kidding.
Every time I passed another motorcyclist on the road we'd exchange… Continue
FUNimation gets Hacked!
I know we have devoted a lot of time to discussing the role of the fansubbing community here at Newtypezone, but I personally feel that a few people have gone way too far in their obvious misuse of computer knowledge. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
As reported by ANN and naturally for the eyes of anyone familiar with the fans… Continue
Mana, also known as Vusc, drops in to talk about the art community in Japan vs. the USA, and what it means to "draw outside the lines" on a professional level. Plus: a reader question about anime-inspired fine art!
