Hi there, I have read some very interesting Gender Bender manga, and enjoy the concept of what it entails. Just the thought of changing gender is something that any adult would be curious about. If only to get the other genders viewpoint (in more ways than one).

Hi there! Great news! Princess Princess + Volume 1 (manga) is in my posession and it is great reading! There is also a load of promo material with it including a signed manga sheet by Mikyo Tsuda herself! I highly recommend the first volume and can't wait for the next one!

Um, yeah, that was muddled.

I meant to say that some plot devices are commonly used in mainstream American animation like gender bending and some are more unusual like BL.

For example, Disney's Robin Hood had Robin and Little John temporarily dress as women to rob Prince John. But the movie didn't have them fall in love with each other while outwitting the Prince.

Maybe nobody thought to make a list of gender bending in anime for Wikipedia because it didn't seem unusual enough. That's just a guess.

I feel that, for a long time in American animation, the only way to approach gender bending was as a joke (like Bugs Bunny). In anime, I think I see more variation on the theme which I find refreshing.

while i'm not well versed in anime gender bender stories, i'm not sure what you mean by "distinctive". please elucidate.

an example of your last statement is I My Me! Strawberry Eggs. it uses crossdressing as a means to explore a great number of social and relational issues rather than as just a joke.

I was thinking about gender bender stories and how common they are in European culture. I mean it stretches from the ancient Greek poet Tiresias to Disney's Mulan. Perhaps that's why anime variations don't seem distinctive enough. But I think anime approaches the topic not just as an easy joke.
