It's the one platform I have yet to own, so I guess I'll have to let the other members school me on this one.

it's a different kind of gaming -- certainly less lazy (unless you cheat lol)-- sometimes more fun, sometimes annoying --and they haven't made many games specifically designed for the controls-- any kind of sports game or keeping rhythm is really fun, but mainly with a group of friends-- great for familys-- also shooters are really fun-- more control

Everyone that I know who owns one absolutely raves about it. Usually about the sports or dancing style games too. I get what you say about the family, as I've often thought it would be great for my kids (who have more combustible energy than I do) I'm still intrigued but I'll have to wait for a while before caving in and buying seeing as how I JUST got my Xbox....don't think my husband would like me demanding ANOTHER new console, haha. He seems to think I have enough as it is. He just doesn't understand.............

The only console I have is the Wii and I love it. But it's a game for social gatherings and for the Wii fit. The Wii fit is amazing...I think I get awesome workouts in the comfort of my own home.

I would love to get the Wii fit! Looks fun from the commercial, and I hate working out so if it can make it fun for me - awesome!!

I agree it is at a much more fun level with a group. Things like Game Party are fun single but much more interesting in a group. There are some great solo games for it though, like anything Mario/Zelda. Twilight Princess is amazing and while you still move to get things done unlike the sports you don't have to have full body contorting workouts. Depends on the game on how much actual motion is required. Nintendo got excited with this one also so it seems everyone is allowed to develop for it, and well that means there are a lot of crap games out there. Be informed, read reviews or invest in Gamefly to rent before you buy. The old favorites are all safe like Mario (Paper, Galaxy, Brawl, Kart, even that soccer game), Zelda, all have good controls, they respond like you think they should etc.... I played the first Sonic that was released on it and while it had the potential to be a great game its controls were not consistent, and I have run across that with a few of the 3rd party games. Oh another one that seems to work right and be great in a group is Raving Rabbids, haven't played the second but mine came with the first one. If it is a party game type game then you will most likely enjoy it in a party setting much more so than alone, the ones you would normally play alone to begin with are still great alone.

You're right about how much fun it is to play with a group of friends, especially Super Mario Kart & Galaxy, my two favs! I keep seeing the Raving Rabbids and they look cute enough.. which makes me think it would be cute but boring. Would it be fun playing it buy myself?

I really wish Nintendo would open up the console even further to developers. Once you start putting the homebrew stuff on it, it's pretty clear that the console still has plenty of potential to be tapped.

It's got a very decent ND media player buried inside of it, and it's networking ability is just as good at the triple or 360. If Nintendo would allow a broader range of applications to be deployed on the system, between the games, Wii Fit,I'm sure most of my other media devices would atrophy and wither into nothingness.

The Wii is the one & only game console I own!

The only other console I have had was the classic Nintendo system back when I was like 5 and for years tried to beat Super Mario Bros *pouts* and I still never have (w/o cheating)

As much as I love playing my Wii, it still sucks going to Blockbuster and seeing all these really cool games come out for Xbox and PS3 but a lot of the games I have noticed for Wii are much more childish, require less or no strategy and are mostly non-violent. That that I have a problem with the lack of gore.. I just hate having such a small selection of games to choose from.

I wish I could remember the name of it but there is a new serious game coming out that looks pretty good, dang I caught it on like G4 while channel surfing. I also know there is a new House of the Dead if you enjoy those coming out.

The Wii had all this momentum and then has kind of just IDK fizzled. I figure there are a few major reasons I can see right off hand...

For one they put out all their big icon games in the first year of launch or shortly into the second year. So now we all have to wait a long time while they develop the next Zelda, Mario, Metroid you know the classics.

Also they are hedging their bets against the economy, put out lots of little games or WiiWare and you may make more sales than making one big icon game that people may think about shelling out 50 for. The gaming industry last time was fairly recession-proof but it isn't looking that way near as much for this recession.

Then the third party games, Nintendo for the first time has really opened wide up to developers. They used to be very strict about what could go onto the console regardless if it was them making it or not, with the Wii not so much. Remember way back when they had the Nintendo seal of approval for third party games, it was supposed to guarantee a quality game. You have a lot of developers now that don't care about anything but making a quick buck off of a popular machine so they aren't putting out the quality because they don't have to and then sell it for 20-30 and people buy it because hey its half price from the other games.

I hope that they get something going, I would hate for them to blow such a great opportunity. In all honesty I believe they were overwhelmed by the popularity. All we can do though is have patience they take forever to make to make their first party games, granted the year the do it should be big because it will be Zelda, Mario, Metroid etc all close together again.
