I've ordered most my DVD's there and so far everything has been fine. Some are imported and some are domestic. Everything's played right except for one DVD and my orders are typically shipped within a day or two after ordering unless they're backordered. I once had a one DVD set backordered for two weeks but they emailed me consistently with updates. I actually ordered the entire first season of Story of Saiunkoku from them. I don't think they're coded R1 but they work just fine on my DVD player. The subs on Saiunkoku are okay. However, I do recommend reading the reviews. Sometimes the subs aren't that great. Luckily, past buyers usually post comments about them...at least I try to. For example, the Ouran High School DVD set subs really, really suck...I bought them anyway b/c at the time I didn't know about VeohTV. I did have one problem once with my La Corda D'Oro order. The DVD wouldn't read right...I emailed them and they responded within minutes. They asked me to ship the product back and they would send me another...which they did and that one worked. They also credited my account the cost of my shipping the faulty DVD. I recently bought Sumomomo Momomomo on 8/28 and they sent me an email saying they shipped it the next day. I've attached the my order minus the personal stuff. I'll let you know how the Sumomomo DVD set plays. Sorry if this message is really wrong but I know it can be scary ordering from internet companies. I hope this helps.

Basically from your response I can already tell that some of these titles are probably bootlegs from china/hong kong and so forth. How do I know that. Well you said that you've had problems with subs and encodes. That's a pretty easy way to tell if somethings either being extremely quickly made or illegally produced. Although I have seen some pretty bad translations on official licensed copies too. It could just be shotty work from Japan. But there really isn't any reason for it when they could easily just download the English scripts from the Fansubbing group that was already doing it. LoL

You're probably right...and using the fansubs would be a hell lot easier!

You can also try Amazon for the domestic versions too.

I get stuff from Amazon all the time when they are on sale. The domestic part isn't really important, it's the quality. But like you said reading others reviews and the promptness of the service that you've mentioned are all good reasons to think about purchasing material from thisisanime. Internet trust is really a major issue these days that's why I usually go through trusted vendors.

Okay...I just had someone ask me to recommend some anime for their 11 year daughter. Here's what I recommended...

1. Cardcaptor Sakura
2. Ultramaniac
3. Full Moon
4. Fruits Basket
5. Magic Knight Rayearth
6. Wedding Peach
7. Inuyasha
8. Kamichu!
9. Tweeny Witches
10. The Prince of Tennis

What would you recommend???

Now that I see Cardcaptor Sakura as being good for an 11 year old I'm questioning whether I want to watch it. Maybe my original bias was justified. I could also see Inuyasha as giving an 11 year old nightmares, Fruit Basket was cute as hell but, hmmm, there is some pretty adult stuff in that too. Haven't seen any of the rest. But I guess Pokemon should probably be in list for kids. But seriously, I'd definitely show my kids Robotech.

You should still see Cardcaptor! I recommended it b/c there wasn't any cussing or nudity. Still very good!

my daughter, who's 12, started with Macross Frontier and she loves it. but she's never seen Robotech. i really need to fix that.

I've been trying to get my niece interested, but she all she likes to watch is Nickelodeon. I put on FLCL for her and she just couldn't get into it. Maybe that was too much for her. She's watched the first macross series with me before and liked. She always wants to watch Howl's Moving Castle.

it's been while since i did my original list.

i'm not sure what i'd take out, but i would really want to include:

Ai Yori Aoshi

and
Haibane Renmei

Ai Yori Aoshi is a the best example of exotic girlfriend/harem anime i've seen so far. plus it's heartwarming and touching.
Haibane Renmei shows how much an anime can touch the tender parts of your heart and it is a great and unique story.

I need ya'lls help. I'm going to have my 10 year nephew for a week and I thought this would be a great time really introduce him into anime. He already likes Yugi-oh and Avatar. What other recommendations would you recommend for a 10 year boy? I was thinking Narato or Bleach...but are they too advanced for him???
